About Katie Dimario

Meet Katie, your local copywriter

In the ever-expanding realm of content creation, finding the right copywriter who understands your business and can craft the perfect content can be tricky. But fear not, because your search ends here. I’m here to provide the help you need.

After finishing university in 2004, I came to Australia assuming I would be back in the UK when my visa ran out. Seems that life had other plans for me and I’m still here with my own family living down in Secret Harbour in Western Australia.

After having children, I didn’t want to return to the corporate world, so I became a freelance copywriter. I love the flexibility it gives me for my family, but also the opportunity to support other local businesses. My background in Public Relations built my effective communication skills and my love of writing gives me the drive to create compelling copy that exceeds my clients’ expectations.

By handing over your content needs to me, you can finally focus on what truly matters – nurturing your business, taking care of your customers, and pursuing your passions. Working with me – how does it all work?

If you haven’t had the opportunity to work alongside a copywriter, you may be wondering how it all works.

Even if you’ve worked with a copywriter in the past, it’s always helpful to understand how things operate when collaborating with me.

Understanding Your Needs

First, I’ll need to understand your requirements. I’ll send you my briefing document to help you capture all your thoughts and provide some prompts to help along the way. We can go over the document together via phone, Google Meet or Zoom, or in person if you live in the Rockingham/Mandurah area.

Proposal Development

After reviewing your briefing document, I’ll create a proposal that outlines the project’s specifics, including costs and proposed timelines. You’ll have the opportunity to discuss and make adjustments to these details.

Project Confirmation

Once your proposal’s been accepted, a non-negotiable 50% upfront payment is required to secure your project. When the payment is received, your project is confirmed. We’ll then establish delivery timelines and feedback schedules, ensuring you’re aware of each stage’s expectations.

Initial Briefing Meeting

This is where we delve into the nitty-gritty of your project. We can communicate via phone, Zoom, or in person, depending on what fits best for both of us.

I’ll provide you with a dedicated Google Drive folder for your project, where you can upload all relevant materials, including:

  • Background information,
  • Tone of voice documents,
  • Previous copy,
  • Competitor information (both the good and the bad).

Writing

Now I’m ready to write.

I work with Google Docs and save all documents in your dedicated Google Drive folder, allowing for easy collaboration and document tracking.

For most projects, you’ll receive these versions for review and approvals:

1. Skeleton deck
This sets out the suggested structure of your website, with bullet points to make sure the right information is being captured in the right place. You’ll be able to make sure this fits with what you envision, check the information is correct, and see if anything has been missed. Don’t worry if this seems like a lot, I’ll be able to talk you through the whole document to make sure we get it right.

2. Sample Content
This includes one or two paragraphs to confirm tone of voice and a selection of words to use and words to avoid. I want to make sure the copy sounds like you and reflects your brand.

3. First draft
With the structure and tone approved, this version will be the creation of the majority of your copy. Your review will ensure it’s still capturing your vision and you’re happy with the direction it’s going.

4. Second draft
I’ll incorporate any comments or amendments you’ve made from the first draft and make any final adjustments.

5. Final version
This will be your finished document ready for publishing.

Any additional rounds can be discussed separately.

Client Reviews and Amendments

Review timelines usually span 3-5 business days per review. Reviewing copy can be time-intensive, requiring a thorough examination of the documents to ensure they align with the brief.

I’ll go through the skeleton deck with you so you understand the layout and what it all means. From there, you should find your reviews straightforward. Edits can be made directly in the document within your Google Drive folder, or if you prefer, you can provide feedback in a separate document.

Payment and Project Completion

I’ll issue the final invoice with a payment term of 14 days two days after I send out the first draft. Once the payment has been received, you’ll receive my End of Project document for your sign-off, which will release the copyright to your business.

Wrapping Up

As I’m sure you know, testimonials can be invaluable to the success of any business. So as a final step, I would really appreciate it if you would be able to give me a testimonial based on your experience working with me.

I’ll provide a link to my Google Business Profile and will include a template to give you some guidance on what to say. There’s also a section for any other feedback you’d like to provide so I can continue to improve my services.
